Are you really a wedding photographer humble or other vendor?
I work for a production studios, we provide services video and photography for brides and grooms. We have done this for about 10 years, on average 70-80 weddings per year. I find that many sellers wedding others, namely photographers, but also the caterers, the people of flowers, etc. .. think it is their party and around them … as when we are engaged for the video and do work with another photographer…9/10 times they think they are the only provider that matter … they mistreat us, the caterer, the flowers people, get all annoyed if a guest takes pictures with a decent camera or semi-pro, they tell them they can not shoot, only they can. We worked with good, but in general, even the best are ultra-arrogant, and think their work is all that matters. When you shoot photos and video, we allow other guests to take pictures without getting angry – I say that we are paid, then why do all mad about it? You do not your money engravings anyway, what gives?
Well, I think it is very variable. I had the misfortune of working with a videographer recently that, without a word literally tried to push me out of the way to cutting the cake … All he had to do was ask me to make place for him, but he just started to grow. Early in the day when my partner and I tried talking to him a plan of cooperation, he simply said "just stay out of my way." Regarding the guest-shot thing … some of the problems that arise are: 1. The guest "Photographer" blocking the photographer get paid plans. Nothing like showing the bride a bouquet of photos of the rear end Uncle Bob. 2. Customers are often indiscriminate use with the flash, even in situations where the declared off limits. I was approached by an official marriage about a "From" the use of flash partner at a wedding where he had banned from the ceremony, and I was obliged to explain that it was just a guest with a fancy camera …. 3. Now so many people with prosumer cameras want to be the shooters marriage, it is not uncommon to find a guest shooting your poses and settings on your shoulder, only to find the plans displayed in a craigslist ad in a week. Photographers who make money off of selling print (they still exist) are also concerned that this will hurt their bottom line. So many photographers have problems with cameras and breakfast. That said, I am than happy to allow guests to shoot, and give them some tips to get better shots. I'm sure my training and skills, and know that There will be no confusion about which photos were mine. However, I maintain a clause in my contract that if a guest photographer becomes a nuisance and prevents me from providing a quality product, I can ask them to stop shooting. As for dealing with other suppliers, professional courtesy is a key element of professionalism. We must never lose sight of the fact that we are all in the same team.
